Server Migration Completed - Jan 2007

January 11th, 2008 by Web Host

Hi everyone,

Well, we had completed yet another server upgrade, and migrated our server to much higher spec.  I had forgotten how many round of upgrade we’ve been thru  for the past 1 1/2 years+. :D

Ok, in general, current server spec :-

  • 8CPU ( processor spec as below )
Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz
Processor #1 speed: 2327.674 MHz
Processor #1 cache size: 4096 KB
  • 4GBRAM
  • SCSI Hard-drive ( 142G x 2 )
  • 3TB bandwidth

Server environment are pretty comprehensive as most of the modules are installed :-

  • FFMpeg-PHP
  • flvtool
  • LAME MP3 Encoder
  • Mencoder and also Mplayer
  • CGI-BIN
  • IMAP
  • IMAP Support
  • PHP Version - 4.4.7
  • Zlib Support
  • GD Support
  • Curl
  • Python
  • Perl
  • and lots more !

Yes, server will be able to host your video site :D. In fact I have a video site running on server.

So, in most situation, your script should have no problem in running, unless you have very specific script or a custom made type, which requirement some special environment. If you do have such special needs, just shoot me email, I’ll see if it can be done for you :D . Most likely will get it done for you, unless if it might cause potential ‘danger’ for server, like creating  loophole in server security…etc.

If you need wildcard sub-domains, it can also be done.  It’s just a few minutes of works only :D so not a ‘big problem’.

Looking forward, I am still open for further upgrade and expansion, of course. The next upgrade would probably be in area of bandwidth, as we are currently approaching in 3TB bandwidth usage, which is near to server max. Most likely we’ll go for unmetered 10mbit server, and see how it goes from there.

Ok, I shall stop here for today ( although I really rarely make a post :P ). It takes time and effort to plan ahead. Hopefully we’ll continue to grow further.

Off to work :D !

James
